Freshwater Aquarium Fish are Good Choice for Beginners

Freshwater Aquarium Fish are Good Choice for Beginners ??????????????

If you have come to the conclusion that you would like to set up a tropical fish aquarium for the enjoyment of yourself and your family, then you are probably in need of some directions in how to get started. If you have never had an aquarium before, then it is recommended to start out with freshwater aquarium fish because they are easier to care for.

Freshwater aquarium fish, as opposed to their bright and flashy cousins of the saltwater variety, can be a good experience for people who have never cared for fish before. Saltwater aquarium tanks can be quite challenging to set up and properly maintain. For this reason, it is strongly recommended that those new to fish keeping, look first at starting with freshwater fish. After you have been able to master the challenges of keeping freshwater fish alive and their aquarium in good order, at that point you might want to broaden your horizons and branch out keeping fish into the saltwater aquarium realm.

Ultimately, it does not matter what kind of aquarium or tank that you choose for your freshwater aquarium fish, as far as care and maintenance is concerned. However, if you can not keep to a regular, weekly schedule of cleaning and maintaining the tank, then perhaps you should not even bother setting up of aquarium.

In addition, you will also need to monitor your tropical fish tank on a daily basis. You need to be sure that the water is always properly in balance for your freshwater aquarium fish and that the correct and comfortable temperature is constantly maintained. The other daily task that you must remember to perform is to make sure that your fish receive the proper amount and type of food as needed.

After you have determined that you will be able to keep up with the regular required maintenance of freshwater aquarium fish, then you can start Deciding on what kind of fish you want to include in your tropical aquarium. The tropical fish tank that you choose must be large enough So that it can properly accommodate the number and types of fish that you plan to purchase. The overcrowding of a tropical fish tank can be a deadly mistake because it can cause polluted tank water and can lead to diseased fish. Before making your final decision, make sure you ask how large the fish will be selected at maturity, as size can vary a great deal depending on the species. A newbie to fish keeping might want to start with a 10 to 20-gallon tropical fish tank and fill it with the smaller and heartier freshwater fish varieties.

In order to maintain a healthy environment for your freshwater aquarium fish, you will also need to have a quality water filtration system, a reliable heater and some nice aquarium decorations and accessories. When setting up your freshwater tropical aquarium, be sure to choose a location in the house where light and temperature can be controlled So that it remains constant. And, remember that once your tropical fish tank is set up and filled, it will be very heavy, so be sure that it is on solid footing with flooring that can handle the load.

Deer Hunting Made Easy in Just 3 Ways

Deer Hunting Made Easy in Just 3 Ways

Deer hunting is the sport or activity of chasing deer. This practice which began in 7000 BC has spread throughout the world, but it was most popular in North America and Europe. In British and Irish sportsmen however, it is more commonly called deer stalking.

In pursuit of this sport, certain strategies have been developed by experts in order to have success. These strategies are summarized into three simple ways in this section.

First, get to know the place of hunting. Of course, you need to have certain tools in order to do this and to find your prospective victim. A map is quite necessary to have an abstract idea of the places where the hunt will commence. If you need to hire a guide, do so. At least you have someone who expertly knows the entire area. If you want, you can also use your GPS for a high-tech way of tracking the trails of the deer. By knowing your place of hunting, you can position your stands in the best locations, usually forty yards downwind of the spotted deer. Also invest time in the area by walking around, scouting, and taking down notes. This way, you’ll be comfortable with the area even before the deer hunting season begins.

After getting to know the place, the next thing to do is get to know the mammal. Deer has better vision at nighttime compared to daylight. Their pupils also open wider during the night. In addition, they have a reflective layer that acts as mirror at the back of their eyes, so they actually use light twice as people do. They also don’t filter UV light as humans do. As a result, they see with less detail but they notice UV light better. They also see orange, red and green as only one color, and blue-green looks somewhat different for them.

How are these applicable to hunting then? If deer sees better at night compared at daytime, then hunt during the day. If they can see UV light better, then whenever you hunt, never wear clothing previously washed with detergents that contain UV enhancers. You would just look like a glowing item for the deer. If they have reflective layers in their eyes, do not wear a well-polished boots as they will alert the deer. The same goes with well-polished guns. And since deer is color blind, solid colors will make you stand out, so don’t dare wear them.

Lastly, aim for your target. How else will you hunt a deer down if not by shooting the right way? On an average, the distance between a shooter and a target deer should be about nine inches. The best position in hitting a deer is through its broadside. The next best position from the broadside view is the quartering-away view. Aim for the exit hole, hitting through the deer in the opposite shoulder. These two methods of aiming for your targets have little rooms for error, as you are sure to hit the vital organs in these positions.

With these basic deer hunting tips, your sport will surely be a success.

How To Save Money While Travelling:

How To Save Money While Travelling:

Booking:

Search for the best airfare by using flight aggregators such as Skyscanner.net or Kayak.com. These sites check regularly for the best flight prices allowing you to compare multiple sites at the same time as well as budget airlines. You can set up a fare alert on Kayak.com to alert you if the fare on your dates drops, it also has detailed charts which show you the history of the fare so you can tell if now is a good time to buy.
If you can avoid travelling in peak season, not only will it be less crowded but hotels and flights will be cheaper.
Travel Midweek for cheaper airfares.
Go Online and make your booking on a Wednesday, prices for flights and holidays rise at the weekend and the beginning of the week because this is when most people book having discussed with family, friends and partners at the weekend.
Book flights well in advance, generally the later you buy the more expensive it will be. Airlines are very good at managing their inventory these days and the low last minute flight deals of the past are over.
Book Package Holidays last minute – If you don’t’ care too much where you go you will find the cheapest prices
Buy all inclusive – although more expensive to begin with they are generally cheaper than eating out once you are on holiday.

Luggage:

Check online for luggage allowances and the weigh your luggage with a luggage scale to ensure it is the correct weight.
Book your luggage in advance if necessary some airlines charge extra for bags if you just turn up at the airport.
Pool your luggage with friends or whoever is in front at the airport if it is overweight.

Travel Guides and Maps

Don’t buy maps – go to the tourist office instead.
Do not exchange currency in tourist areas go to a bank instead.
Free Museums – find out if museums are free or there are free events on.
An up to date guide book is worth its weight in gold but you could instead print off details from the internet for free.

Hotels

Buy your hotels in advance, although this is often not as flexible it is almost always cheaper than the hotel’s rack rate. Expedia gets exclusive deals that you will not be able to get booking direct.

Once You Are There

Try to use Skype in an internet cafe rather than call boxes or the hotel phone. Hotel phone’s as I’m sure everybody already know have ridiculous mark ups.
Visit off the beaten track attractions and live like a local, ignore the high entry price attractions which aren’t authentic.
Buy your souvenirs from night markets and away from the city centre.
Stay away from the city centre – having your hotel outside the central district will save you lots of money not only on hotel rates but also on eating out and shopping. You’ll meet more local people and get a better feel for the city. Generally there are huge price rises around the central tourist areas, Leister Square in London and Time Square in New York.-

Managing the Rope When Belaying

Managing the Rope When Belaying

The two ways of managing the rope when belaying are the body belay and the mechanical belay. The body belay is used when the belayer must stop a fall without any other means. The rope is wrapped around the body and uses the belayers body to cinch down on the rope to arrest a fall. All body belays are suited for normal rope handling. However they are rarely suited for the interception of severe falls. The energy produced by the fall is, in part, absorbed by the belayers body. Which could cause injury to the belayer.

Mechanical belay methods (sometimes termed dynamic-mechanical belays) have been developed in order to avoid, or decrease, the inherent dangers of body belays. A good mechanical belay should be easy and simple to handle. It should allow for quick paying out and taking in of the rope. It should stop and hold a wet rope as easily and efficiently as a dry one. It should be suited for double ropes. It should be independednt of the direction of the impact force. It should have a breaking strain of between 250 to 600kg. And it should function without much additional equipment, and be practical.

When establishing a belay position, the belayer should determine the anticipated direction of pull in case of a fall. As the climber moves up the direction may change. The belayer should “aim” the belay in the direction that will best enable a fall to be held. Corrective measures should be taken if the ideal belay position is different from the expected direction of pull. This is achieved by placing more protection (piton, chock, or runner) in a location that re-aligns the belay with the expected direction of pull.

The belayer anchors themselves to a reliable anchor point using part of the climbing rope, or their sling (utility) rope. When the climbing rope is used and the belayer is within an arms length of an anchor, a double figure eight can be used to secure the climbing rope to the anchor. This short section of rope between anchor and belayer is called a self-belay.

If the anchor is furthur than arms length from the belay position, either a sling rope is used for the self-belay, or a bight large enough to reach the anchor is taken and tied off to form a fixed loop. The ability to reach the anchor knot from the belay without moving is important. If the belayer is holding the full weight of an injured climber, they must be able to tie the belay rope without moving.

The self-belay must always be tight, and the anchor, belayer, and expected direction of pull must be as close to a straight line as possible. The belayer ensures that the rope does not run over any sharp projections or edges. If it does it should be re-routed, and if that is not possible padding should be used, such as a rucksack or parka.

The belayer lays out the rope so that it runs freely through the hands without becoming tangled. There is not the option, once belaying starts, to release the brake hand to untangle the rope. Stacking, backfeeding, or piling the rope in one spot is better than coiling, as fewer kinks develop.

Manzanillo, the Sailfish Capital of the World

Manzanillo, the Sailfish Capital of the World

Are you debating whether to visit a place with beaches or a place with swamps and waterfalls?  Well, visit Manzanillo and you’ll get both!  Or visit Patawalk (http://www.patawalk.com) and virtually get both, as well.

Manzanillo is a port city that lies on the Pacifi Ocean.  In the 1500′s, while in search of a safe harbor and an excellent location for shipbuilding, the Spanish Explorer Hernan Cortez along with his tripulation landed on the shore of what is now known as Manzanillo.  Interestingly, Cortez also used this site as the parting place to go in quest of the Phillipines.  This only proves what an important point of departure Manzanillo was for the Spaniards upon their arrival.  It was the Spaniards who baptized this beautiful bay with the name of Manzanillo due to the abundance of Manzanillo trees found here.   Also of importance is the fact that this tree was specifically used to build ships.  Nowadays, the port of Manzanillo maintains its place as an important harbor.  It has become a stopping point for cargo ships all over the world, so much that it is the largest port on the Pacific coast of Mexico.

But Manzanillo isn’t just all harbor bussiness; it is an excellent adventure destination as well as a resort destination.  Don’t forget that Manzanillo is the “Sailfish Capital of the World!”  Multitudes of fishing tournaments are held throughout the year on the pristine and magnificent beaches of Manzanillo.  Upon disembarking on the beautiful Manzanillo coast you should head to one of the local scuba shops and submerge into a full-blown underwater adventure.  For starters you should try some snorkeling or scuba diving.  The waters of Manzanillo are so clean and clear that make them an ideal location to snorkel or dive.  Not only this, but Manzanillo is filled with lots of natural coral and fish.  While snorkeling, don’t forget to ask your guide to show you The Aquarium, which is a 10,000 year-old reef and it it but 3 to 7 feet under the surface.  This particular reef is huge and can almost be compared to the size of a football field, about 100 yards or about 300 feet.  Another must-see while snorkeling is San Luciano, which is a 300-foot-long shipwreck.  This is one of the many ships that were wrecked during the 5 storm category hurricane of 1959.  This ship is completely made of metal, and has become a “man-made” coral reef, for it is now filled with all types of marine life from octopuses hiding to aquatic plants wrapped around it.  Roca Elefante (Elephant Rock) is a true natural wonder; this is an underwater rock in the shape of an elephant, which is where the name comes from.  I was told that at one point a piece of the rock was in the shape of the trunk running upwards, but that it was destroyed during an earthquake.  Nevertheless, the rock still maintains it’s similarity to that of an elephant but now with a trunk facing downward or in a resting position.  The shape of the rock isn’t the only interesting component of it; in addition, the rock forms what we know as a blow hole, or as they call it in Manzanillo a “bufadora,” which blows water up to several feet in the air.  Another natural wonder that can be observed in Manzanillo is the Green Flash Phenomenon.  This is when you’re able to see a green light coming at a distance only over the ocean.  It is seen on the line that divides the ocean from the sky.  The best time to observe this is between sunset and sunrise; this is definitely worthy of a picture.

The underwater adventure is only a piece of all the activities and fun that Manzanillo provides to its visitors.  Along the beach you’ll find areas where you can go horseback riding.  Imagining that: hoserback riding along the beach, it’s like something out of a romantic Hollywood film, right?  If you’re into something more exiting and adrenaline pumping, then rent a few jet skis and race onto the ocean.  You can also go kayaking or simply bring your boogie board and enjoy the soft ocean waves craddleing you along the coast.  However, the further into the ocean you go the more likely you’ll be to encounter ocean life.  In fact, Manzanillo has an enourmous dolphin population.  So if you’re lucky enough, you might just encounter a dolphin swimming right next to you!

Kayaking is even more exciting when done in a mangrove.   All you have to do is take a small trip about 15 to 30 minutes from the city and you’ll arrive at some of the most incredibly scenic mangroves ever.  These mangroves will take you around the lagoon; here you’ll have the opportunity to observe a diversity of bird species.  This is quite a unique experience for the bird aficionado.  After this really neat experience you’ll have to treat yourself to the 100-foot waterfall, called El Salto (The Jump), which is also withing a 45 minute trip north of Manzanillo.  Getting there is pretty much an awesome vehicle ride along with some walking; it is quite the best way to include some exercise in your day.  The place surrounding the waterfall is virtually untouched by civilization is one of the few spots around the world boasting of being a true natural beauty.  It literary is a jungle-rainforest combination; it might even seem like you’ve travel back in time, for a place like this is hard to believe it still exists in today’s society.  Note that the best time to visit the waterfall, that is if you wish to swim in it, is between November through May.  During these times the waters are pristine and very calm.  Durin the rainy season, it is not recommended, for it might become dangerous due to possible mudslides.

If you’d like to take a small break from the ocean adventures and visit the city, then I must recommend the Museo de la Perversidad (Museum of Perversity).  But don’t get the wrong idea based on its name.  In actuality, the museum is much like a house of horrors based on historical facts.  The museum features “scenes” of torture and artifact or tools of torture.  It’s important to mention that all the artifcats including the mannequins were created by local artisans.  Nevertheless, the museum is more than just a scary house straight out of a horror movie; its purpose it is bring consciousness to the public about inhumanness; this museum was created to promote and bring to life the issue of human rights.

As you shop through the streets of Manzanillo, your attention will be caught by the fact that all of the shops have small sculptures of a particular hairless canine.  You’ll find images of this dog throughout the city.  The fact is that, the hairless dog known as Techichi or Escuincle is the national dog, although it has been concluded that this was the first native dog of the American continent.  The dog was named during pre-Hispanic times by the Aztecs after the pagan god, Xolotl, who was the twin brother of the more well-known god Quetzacoatl.  Escuincle comes from the Aztec word for dog, or itzcuintli.  The Aztecs used this dog for several purposed including watchdog, healer, and most interestingly as a food source.  The Mayans believed that the Xolotl dog were guardians of the afterlife and so they mummified them and put them in tombs with their owners, talk about man’s best friend being a true companion.  Its popularity was such that not only are their images throughout the city, but even great artists such as Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo feature them in their art.

So don’t wait any longer, embark on that wondrous adventure and get a preview in a full-on 360 virtual tour at Patawalk (http://www.patawalk.com)!

My Diary on Mt Kenya Trekking (day 2)

My Diary trekking on Mt Kenya (day 2) ??????????????The night passed without

not it? € ™ s fair share of interruptions especially from the porters’ nightmares perhaps due to exhaustion or fear of a rogue elephant that has been giving trekkers a scare on several occasions at the popular “kona Mbaya” (Dangerous Corner) Bamboo along the stretch.

Back to the porters’ bunkhouse. As I stretch my aching muscles hoping that it’s still deep in the night and that I still have more time to sleep, our cook announces that it’s already 6:00 AM and that we’re urgently needed at the kitchen to help with breakfast. Apparently, breakfast must be set at the dinning table by six thirty as trekkers are expected to leave camp latest seven as today is gonna be a long day.

I brave the kitchen dark chilly morning and head to the. Everybody to his own tasks. Surprisingly, we deliver breakfast in real time.

You see, today is the day no porter ever takes lightly. It’s a BIG test of stamina, speed and will power. Most new porters decide today Whether this job description fits them.

As we put it, it’s the day that we see the Elephant.

Picture this, forty pounds of luggage on your back to be hauled for seven hours through thinning air with an eventual elevation gain of eight hundred meters. Not to mention that we have to hit camp two hours clear of the climbers! If you fancy that, WELCOME to our world!

Back to the camp’s kitchen, a pandemonium ensues as porters literally scramble for a bite of whatever passes up this way to top up our stomachs. A full stomach comes in handy today.

By this time, the climbers are already done with their breakfast and Evans assembles them outside so they have an early start and off they hit the trail.

We quickly clear the utensils from the tables, clean them, pack the climbers’ trail lunch, and finally consolidate and share out the luggage with the usual complaints. From here it’s every man for himself!

Off we go to and it’s uphill for hours to our first stop, popularly known as the junction. Evans and the climbers are already here and are enjoying their water break. To avoid extra water weight on my luggage, I drink enough from the small stream running through here as the other porters follow suit. Before we leave, we reassure climbers that all is going to be well with them and hope to see them again at the rocks for lunch.

We hit the track on a flat stretch to the Ontulili River, with a gradual climb and a long contour leading us down a steep slope to the Liki North Rivera € | another watering hole for us.

Guess what? We are now at the bottom of today’s Mother of all climbing!

We brace ourselves for we hydrate as the tough gradient ahead. It’s done in little parts with intermittent breaks till we conquer the whole lot. Oxygen is a rare commodity here and on many occasions we find ourselves panting and gasping for air which becomes thinner with every successive step.

At some point, I find myself asking why I’m doing this with the answer being the same? € | because I love it! I’m sure the same is true for the rest of the porters and that’s why our final push finally sees us to the top of the hill. Panting

We scatter ourselves on the rocks as we lie in wait of the climbers. This is where we’ll serve lunch with trekkers.

As we start to freeze and wonder what’s happening to the climbers, another group of porters arrive with relieving news that our climbers are not far down from here.

After about a half hour, they eventually emerge from the mist below and it’s apparent they’ve taken quite a beating!

Oftentimes, this is the point at which we all give a pep talk and a nudge to the climbers? € | a little encouragement goes a long way. Depending on the Guide’s assessment of the climbers’ condition, this is the point where one of us may be called upon to be left behind to accompany the group. Just in case.

After serving lunch, we quickly drop down to the spectacular valley Mackinders knowing that the hardest part of the day has been conquered. All that remains now is a speedy cruise to the Shipton’s camp. Nonetheless, for the rest of the journey we keep our fingers crossed hoping that the rain Gods continues to hold back the rain.

We speed through the Lobelia plants and tussock grass as stories and gossip abound eventually climbing up the caves from whence Shipton’s our next home is visible. From here we do our final stretch leading us to the Shipton’s camp. Luckily without a drop of rain!

Before the other teams of porters arrive, we speedily settle at one of the best corners of the kitchen as we will be around for two nights. It’s time to separate the kitchen and take the luggage back packs climbers to their beds as we take the food to the.

Everyone is now in high spirits as we stroll around the camp and back to the kitchen. It’s time to prepare the tables as we anticipate trekkers to be back from their day hike in an hour’s time. At the tables, we set boiled water, pop corns and biscuits for their refreshment.

Back at the kitchen, we enjoy our cup of tea as we review Dinner’s menu.

We rush outside and spread ourselves on the rocks to catch the ever elusive rays. Nobody moves as we’re all immersed in enjoying the rays beating on our bodies giving us back a sense of life? € | a well deserved relaxation at! Last

& # xD;However, this session does not last long as a whistle disrupts us as we were finally dozing off on opening my eyes, it? € ™ s Evans with the climbers slowly streaming into the camp, most of them somewhat BEAT!

As Evans shows them to the dinning, we all rush to the kitchen to bring the snacks we’ve prepared for them but Evans interrupts us with the news that we have several cases of headache. I quickly prime the Stove and within a few minutes I have lemon tea ready for those with headache.

As they enjoy their snacks, we rush outside to continue with our escapade of sunning ourselves? € | after all it’s only five PM

After moments with the climbers, Evans joins us on for update of what has been going on with the climbers. He has his stories too. I wish he’d give you a sneak preview of his experience with them too.

It’s almost six PM and heading to the Sun is going down pretty quick. We dash into the kitchen to start preparations for dinner. The Cook is now on top of his game as we gladly take his orders and within no time everything is chopped up and ready for his cooking. A task we all respect him for. The kind of stuff this guy cooks is probably served in Heaven!

Eventually everything is ready and we deliver it to the table. As they continue with dinner, we settle on preparing our local stuff, the ever popular “ugali” made from corn flour. Very filling stuff but the taste is nothing to write home about.

I make my rounds in the kitchen showering praises to the other groups’ cooks, a trick that avail me the opportunity to sample their tastes.

My visit to the table confirms that the climbers are done with dinner and I call my colleagues to clear the tables. All utensils are collected from the tables and clean up ensues. Today is my lucky day as I’m not on the duty list.

I finally wash everything down with a mug of hot tea and head to the bunkhouse to catch the latest in the dream world. Buenas noches! “Lala Salama” – Good Nite!

Catch up tomorrow!

Using the Rotomolding Molding Process

Using the Rotomolding Molding Process ??????????????

The rotational molding process is a commonly used method of manufacturing for many items we all use on a daily basis. Some good examples would include bulk tanks, canoes, kayaks, helmets, footballs, playground equipment, bins and refuse containers.

Another name for the rotational molding process is rotomolding, or rotomoulding. It is one of those processes that people take for granted and even scarcely ever notice. Yet it includes many products we all use and enjoy.

In the past, rotomolding was very slow and had a very limited application. With the ever advancing technologies of modern industry it has become more efficient and has a broader area of application.

What plastics can use the rotational molding process?

The main plastic used is the polyethylene family of plastics, PE, HDPE, LLDPE and HDPE. A few other plastics used in rotomolding include nylon, PVC, and polypropylene.

Why is it called the rotational molding process?

It is called the rotational molding process because the mold rotates! It actually rotates in two axes. This is to enable the plastic to be evenly distributed over the molding surface of the mold. In the rotational molding process, a predetermined amount of plastic powder is placed in the mold and heated to it’s melting point. The mold is then rotated in two axes, which spreads the molten plastic over the face of the mold.

Are special molds required? Most are rather simple

rotomolds, especially compared to injection molds. When you consider that just the finished product is a garbage, or kayak, it is understandable that the fit and finish need not be so exact.

The rotational molding design

faces a different array of obstacles than a typical injection mold, and need to take these into consideration. A good example is the difficulty faced in the rotational molding process in attempting to fill highly detailed areas. Because the rotational molding process uses high temperature and low pressure, it can be rather limiting in its ability to fill corners and other hard to fill areas.

Yes, there certainly is a future for rotomolding . The type of products typically produced by the rotational molding process are the type of thing that never goes out of style. Imagine the world without the green garbage cans or a plastic playground without a slide? Companies that embrace this low tech / high tech will certainly experience job offers.

New Tourism Product Identified in Uganda

New Tourism Product Identified in Uganda

Uganda Wildlife Authority in conjunction with the Ministry of Tourism Trade and industry is now pointing towards the promotion of mountain climbing in four mountains in the country including mountains such as Mount Muhabura, Elgon, Moroto and Rwenzori, a statement said by the state Minister for Tourism while addressing Journalists at Mihunga Park in Kasese District

This came as a result of the Minister’s tour to the Rwenzori Mountains and Queen Elizabeth National Park The Minister noted that Uganda has got a hot cake that includes to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, and therefore noted in the Queen Elizabeth and Murchison Falls National Park are an important tour experience in Uganda where as and a combination of and have become one of the best attractions in the country. However, less attention has been channeled to.

Mr.

Rukundo is allegedly the first minister to climb Mt Rwenzori Nyabitaba up to camp, which lies at 2650 meters above sea level and 7.5kms from Mihunga gate Nyakalengijo Bugoy in Kasese. The minister promised to Embark on the building of the bridges and ladders such that easy access to places that would be visited by tourists is attained. On top of this, he cautioned Uganda Wildlife Authority and Tour Companies to employ tour guides who are well knowledgeable of the area and said good huts and facilities like warm water must be set up to enhance visitor stay. The responsibility of supply of Mountain Climbing equipment remains a complete obligation of the managers at the four mountain parks mentioned earlier.

Five tourists’ routes are to be opened in Rwenzori National Park of which three are to be opened soon and two others later. The routes will include; Kazingo in Kabarole District, Kilembe in Kasese District and others will include; Kitholhu towards Margherita Peak and kyahumba-Rwagimba leading to Bundibugyo.

Plans are underway to develop

weekend packages for residents and expatriates visiting the Rwenzori National Park which receives close to 1000 visitors a whole year. The Park has got five huts liable to accommodate 75 visitors per night of which only 55% can be reached in the peak season. There is a possibility of improving on the accommodation facilities which is most likely to lead to a 100% bed occupancy level

Tips for Archery Fishing

Tips for Archery Fishing

Also known as Bow fishing, this is a sport wherein a fisherman uses archery equipment to fish.

A regular hunting bow can be used for fishing by simply attaching a reel to the front of the bow grip.

Archery fishing is especially favored by regular hunters when regular game like deer are off season. This way they can continuously hone their skills for whatever season it may be.

Before engaging in archery fishing, one must first take into consideration the following:

1. A fisherman must be duly licensed. Some states require that an individual have a state license to fish.

2. Equipment. Most states have a predetermined set of approved equipment for archery fishing.

3. Archery Safety Course. Still, some states require that an individual go through an approved safety course for archery fishing to ensure that the individual is well versed with the proper safety precautions and information regarding applicable laws in fishing.

4. Seasons. Bow fishing in some states can only be done in certain seasons. This is to allow the fish to spawn.

5. Species of fish. Some states have rules forbidding archery fishing for some species of fish.

The following skills are necessary for an individual to obtain and practice:

Knot tying. Though it may seem like a simple task, tying knots that will not slip (line for the arrow) are crucial in bow fishing.

Tuning. Tuning is making sure that the bow is at its best working condition. To ensure this, one has to continuously adjust the rest and calibrate the nock.

For a faster tuning process, one may shoot a regular bow-fishing arrow (without the tip) onto a target made of cardboard.

Marksmanship or targeting. Bow fishing and bow hunting, though similar on some aspects, really do differ on many things. Arrows for bow fishing are heavier, have larger arrow tips and, the most obvious one, has a string attached to the arrow.

And since fish are shot in the water, resistance differs as when compared to shooting in the air (for bow hunting of games)

There are various methods or ways of archery fishing. This includes the following:

1. Still hunting. A fisherman selects a place by the lake in which he would wait for passing fish to shoot its bow at.

2. Stalking. This can be done on foot or while on a boat. One is in constant motion in an attempt to locate fish.

3. Ambush. Fish that are best ambushed are the ones that are spawning since they tend to crowd thus increasing chances of target.
